CAGS "In-Training" Exam and Awards
Exam
Dr. Stevens Norvell initiated and developed this examination 25 years ago that tests and measures Residents knowledge specifically in General Surgery. Now known as the CAGS In-Training exam, all General Surgery Residents in Canada take the exam through their Programs in their respective universities. The exam is also offered at the Canadian Surgery Forum annually and costs $100.00 to each candidate.
Stevens Norvell Award
Named after the creator of the exam, this award is given for the highest and second highest achievement in each year of General Surgery residency.
